Medical Weight Loss

7 Questions

How is medical weight loss different from dieting on my own?

Medical weight loss uses FDA-approved medications that directly address the hormonal and metabolic factors driving weight gain. GLP-1 medications reduce appetite at the neurological level — something willpower alone cannot replicate. Combined with provider oversight, nutrition guidance, and ongoing monitoring, this approach produces results that are far more consistent than diet and exercise alone.

Your provider will make this determination during your consultation based on your health history, current medications, goals, and medical eligibility. Generally, Tirzepatide offers superior weight loss results due to its dual-action mechanism, while Semaglutide has a longer track record and extensive long-term safety data. Both are excellent options the right choice depends on your individual profile.

The most common side effects are gastrointestinal — nausea, mild stomach discomfort, or decreased appetite. These are typically most pronounced in the first few weeks and diminish as your body adjusts. Starting at a low dose and titrating slowly significantly reduces these effects. Your provider will guide you through this process and can recommend strategies to minimize discomfort.

Program duration varies by patient. Many patients achieve significant results within 6–12 months. Long-term maintenance planning is part of our program — your provider will discuss the appropriate strategy based on your progress, goals, and overall health. It’s important to understand that maintaining results requires ongoing adherence to the lifestyle guidance provided throughout your program.

While GLP-1 medications significantly reduce appetite, following your provider’s nutritional guidance is essential to achieving the best results and maintaining them long-term. Our team provides practical, sustainable dietary guidance — not a rigid meal plan. Patients who integrate the lifestyle recommendations into their program consistently achieve better outcomes.

All appointments at Restore Wellness Clinic are booked through our Tebra patient portal. You can request your consultation using the form on this page and our team will reach out within 24 hours to confirm your appointment and send portal access instructions.

Coverage varies significantly by insurance plan. Some plans cover GLP-1 medications when prescribed for obesity or specific metabolic conditions; others do not. Our team can discuss self-pay options and pricing during your consultation. We’re committed to making treatment as accessible as possible.

Tirzepatide Treatment

9 Questions

What is Tirzepatide and how does it work for weight loss?

Tirzepatide is a once-weekly injectable medication that activates both GIP and GLP-1 hormone receptors simultaneously. This dual mechanism suppresses appetite at the neurological level, slows digestion to promote fullness, improves insulin sensitivity, and enhances fat cell metabolism producing weight loss significantly greater than any single-pathway medication. It is available under brand names Mounjaro® and Zepbound®.

The SURMOUNT-1 Phase 3 clinical trial showed an average body weight reduction of 20.9% (10mg) to 22.5% (15mg) over 72 weeks. 86% of patients achieved at least 5% weight loss, and 50% achieved at least 20% weight loss. These results are significantly higher than any previously approved weight loss medication. Individual results depend on adherence to your provider’s program, lifestyle modifications, and your individual metabolic response.

Yes. Restore Wellness Clinic in Waco, Texas offers physician supervised Tirzepatide treatment programs for eligible patients. We serve patients in Waco and throughout Central Texas. Book a consultation through our Tebra patient portal to get started.

Semaglutide activates only the GLP-1 hormone receptor. Tirzepatide activates both GLP-1 and GIP receptors making it a dual-agonist. Clinical trials show Tirzepatide produces approximately 7–8 percentage points greater average weight loss than Semaglutide. Tirzepatide is generally recommended for patients seeking maximum weight loss results. Semaglutide remains an excellent option, particularly for patients who prefer a medication with a longer safety track record. Your provider will recommend the most appropriate option for your individual situation.

Tirzepatide is administered as a once-weekly subcutaneous injection using a small auto-injector pen. It can be injected into the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm. Our team provides thorough injection training at your first appointment the technique is simple and most patients become comfortable within the first few doses.

The most common side effects are gastrointestinal nausea, mild stomach discomfort, and decreased appetite. These are most pronounced in the first 2–4 weeks at each new dose level and significantly diminish as your body adjusts. Our slow titration protocol (starting at 2.5mg) dramatically reduces side effect severity. Dietary modifications, adequate hydration, and our provider’s guidance help most patients manage the adjustment period comfortably.

All appointments at Restore Wellness Clinic are booked through our secure Tebra patient portal. Submit your information using the form on this page and our team will contact you within 24 hours to confirm your appointment and provide Tebra portal access for completing intake paperwork ahead of your visit.

While Tirzepatide dramatically reduces appetite, following your provider’s nutritional guidance is essential for achieving the best results and maintaining them long-term. Our team provides practical, sustainable dietary guidance not a rigid meal plan. Patients who integrate the lifestyle recommendations into their program achieve meaningfully better outcomes than those who rely on medication alone.

Semaglutide Treatment

8 Questions

What is Semaglutide and how does it work for weight loss?

Semaglutide is a GLP-1 receptor agonist it mimics the GLP-1 hormone your gut naturally produces after eating to signal fullness. It suppresses appetite by acting on hunger centers in the brain, slows gastric emptying to keep you feeling fuller longer, and improves blood sugar control by stimulating insulin release. The STEP-1 trial demonstrated an average 14.9% body weight reduction over 68 weeks. It is available under the brand names Ozempic® and Wegovy®.

The STEP-1 Phase 3 clinical trial showed an average body weight reduction of 14.9% over 68 weeks with Semaglutide 2.4mg. 86% of patients achieved at least 5% weight loss, and 69% achieved at least 10%. Individual results depend on adherence to your provider’s complete program — including medication, nutritional guidance, and follow-up check-ins. Results are not guaranteed and vary by individual.

Yes. Restore Wellness Clinic in Waco, Texas offers physician supervised Semaglutide weight loss programs for eligible patients. We serve patients throughout Waco and Central Texas. To get started, book a consultation through our Tebra patient portal using the form on this page.

Both Ozempic® and Wegovy® contain Semaglutide — the same active ingredient. Ozempic (0.5mg–2mg) is FDA-approved for the treatment of type 2 diabetes and is sometimes prescribed off-label for weight loss. Wegovy (2.4mg) is FDA-approved specifically for chronic weight management in adults with obesity or overweight. The higher dose in Wegovy is what was used in the STEP clinical trials producing 14.9% average weight loss. Your provider will determine the appropriate formulation and dose for your needs.

This is best determined during your consultation with our provider. Tirzepatide produces greater average weight loss (up to 22.5% vs. 14.9%) due to its dual GIP/GLP-1 mechanism. Semaglutide has a longer safety track record, extensive cardiovascular outcome data (20% CV risk reduction in SELECT trial), and a deeper evidence base in type 2 diabetes management. Some patients prioritize maximum weight loss results; others prioritize the most thoroughly studied long-term safety profile. Your provider will recommend the best option based on your health history, goals, and individual needs.

Semaglutide is administered as a once-weekly subcutaneous injection using a pre-filled auto-injector pen. Injections are self-administered into the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm. Our team provides thorough training at your first visit — the pen is designed for ease of use and most patients become comfortable within a week or two.

The most common side effects are gastrointestinal nausea, mild stomach discomfort, and reduced appetite. These are most common during the early weeks and at each dose escalation step. The gradual titration protocol (starting at 0.25mg) significantly reduces their severity. Most patients find that side effects diminish substantially within 4–8 weeks as their body adapts. Dietary modifications and our team’s guidance help most patients move through the adjustment period comfortably.

BHRT (Hormone Therapy)

7 Questions

What makes bioidentical hormones different from synthetic hormones?

Bioidentical hormones have the exact same molecular structure as the hormones your body naturally produces. This means they bind to your hormone receptors in the same way your body’s own hormones would. Synthetic hormones, by contrast, have a modified molecular structure they’re similar but not identical which can affect how your body processes and responds to them. At Restore Wellness Clinic, we use bioidentical hormones exclusively.

The most reliable way to determine if you need BHRT is through comprehensive lab testing. Common signs of hormonal imbalance include persistent fatigue, brain fog, mood changes, weight gain, low libido, hot flashes (women) or reduced muscle mass and drive (men). If you’re experiencing these symptoms, a consultation at Restore Wellness Clinic will include lab work to objectively assess your hormone levels.

When properly prescribed, dosed, and monitored by a qualified provider, BHRT has a strong safety profile. At Restore Wellness Clinic, every patient receives a thorough evaluation before treatment begins, and hormone levels are monitored regularly throughout. We do not prescribe BHRT to patients with contraindications such as certain hormone-sensitive cancers or cardiovascular conditions your safety is always the priority.

Many patients notice initial improvements in energy, sleep, and mood within the first 2–4 weeks of treatment. More significant changes improved body composition, libido, and cognitive clarity typically become evident over 1–3 months as hormone levels stabilize. Results vary based on individual hormone levels, delivery method and adherence to the program.

BHRT is available in several delivery forms including topical creams, pellets (subcutaneous implants), oral capsules, and injections. Your provider will recommend the most appropriate delivery method based on your hormones, lifestyle and preference. Each method has different absorption rates and maintenance schedules your provider will explain the pros and cons of each option during your consultation.

All appointments at Restore Wellness Clinic are booked through our secure Tebra patient portal. Simply submit your information using the form on this page and our team will reach out within 24 hours to confirm your appointment and provide access to the portal to complete your intake paperwork ahead of your visit.

Absolutely. Hormonal imbalance and weight gain are closely linked low estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone all contribute to metabolic slowdown and fat accumulation. Many of our patients pursue both BHRT and our medical weight loss program simultaneously, and the combination is often highly effective. Your provider will coordinate a plan that addresses both concerns safely and comprehensively.

Women’s Hormone Therapy

8 Questions

What is Women's BHRT and how does it work?

Women’s Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) restores declining levels of estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone using hormones that are molecularly identical to those your body naturally produces. Your provider first orders comprehensive lab testing to establish your exact hormone levels, then designs a personalized protocol to restore them to an optimal range relieving symptoms and supporting long-term health.

Conventional HRT often uses synthetic or animal-derived hormones (such as conjugated equine estrogens or synthetic progestins) that have a similar but not identical structure to human hormones. Bioidentical hormones have the exact same molecular structure as the hormones your body produces — meaning they interact with your receptors in precisely the same way. At Restore Wellness Clinic, we prescribe bioidentical hormones exclusively, and we dose based on your individual lab results rather than using standardized commercial doses.

Many women notice the first improvements within 2–4 weeks particularly in sleep quality and mood, as progesterone tends to have relatively fast-acting effects. Hot flash relief typically becomes significant within 4–8 weeks. Energy, libido, and cognitive clarity improvements often emerge over 1–3 months as hormone levels stabilize and your body fully responds to the restored hormonal environment. Individual timelines vary based on your specific hormone levels and delivery method.

Yes testosterone is an essential hormone in women, not just men. Women’s testosterone levels peak in their 20s and decline steadily, often reaching near-zero by menopause. Low testosterone in women causes persistent fatigue, reduced motivation and mental drive, decreased libido, loss of muscle tone, and weight gain. When testosterone is included in a women’s BHRT protocol at appropriate physiological doses, the improvements in energy, libido, mood, and body composition can be dramatic. Our provider will test your testosterone levels and include it in your protocol if indicated.

When properly prescribed, dosed, and monitored by a qualified provider, BHRT has a favorable safety profile for most women. The risk profile of bioidentical hormones is considered more favorable than older synthetic HRT regimens. The breast cancer risk question is nuanced current evidence suggests that the type of progestogen used matters significantly, with bioidentical progesterone showing a more favorable profile than synthetic progestins. Our provider will thoroughly review your personal and family history, assess your individual risk, and only recommend BHRT if it is appropriate for you. Women with a history of estrogen-receptor positive breast cancer are generally not candidates.

A comprehensive women’s hormone panel typically includes: estradiol (E2), progesterone, total testosterone, free testosterone, DHEA-S, FSH, LH, SHBG, and thyroid function (TSH, free T3, free T4). Depending on your history and symptoms, your provider may also order a full metabolic panel, CBC, and other relevant markers. Lab results are reviewed in the context of your symptoms  numbers alone don’t tell the complete story.

Yes. Restore Wellness Clinic in Waco, Texas offers physician supervised Women’s BHRT for patients experiencing perimenopause, menopause, or hormonal imbalance. We serve patients in Waco and throughout Central Texas. Appointments are booked through our secure Tebra patient portal.

Absolutely. Hormonal decline and weight gain are closely connected declining estrogen shifts fat distribution toward the abdomen, while low testosterone slows metabolism and reduces lean muscle mass. Many patients pursue both BHRT and our medical weight loss program (Tirzepatide or Semaglutide) concurrently. The combination is often highly synergistic. Your provider will coordinate a comprehensive plan addressing both aspects of your health.

Men's Testosterone Therapy

8 Questions

What is Testosterone Replacement Therapy and how does it work?

TRT is a physician-supervised treatment that restores testosterone to an optimal physiological range using bioidentical testosterone structurally identical to what your body naturally produces. Your provider first orders a comprehensive blood panel to establish your baseline levels, then designs a personalized protocol to restore them to a range where you feel and function at your best. Labs are monitored regularly throughout treatment to ensure safety and efficacy.

Clinical hypogonadism is generally diagnosed when total testosterone is below 300 ng/dL alongside symptoms. However, many men experience significant symptoms with levels between 300–500 ng/dL particularly if free testosterone is low or SHBG is elevated. Your provider at Restore Wellness Clinic evaluates your complete hormonal picture and clinical presentation together, not just a single number. If your symptoms are consistent with low T and your labs support it, TRT may be appropriate.

Most men notice improvements in energy, mood, and motivation within 3–6 weeks of starting TRT. Libido and sexual function typically improve meaningfully within 3–8 weeks. Significant changes in muscle mass and body composition develop over 3–6 months of consistent treatment. Full benefits are generally experienced after 6–12 months. Individual timelines vary based on starting testosterone levels, delivery method, and program adherence.

Yes TRT suppresses the hypothalamic-pituitary axis, which reduces LH and FSH production and can significantly reduce sperm production. If you are currently trying to conceive or want to preserve fertility, TRT may not be the right approach at this time. Alternatives such as hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) therapy or clomiphene citrate can raise testosterone while preserving sperm production. Discuss your fertility goals explicitly with your provider at your consultation.

When properly prescribed and monitored, TRT is safe for the majority of eligible men. Known considerations include: polycythemia (increased red blood cell count monitored via CBC), estradiol elevation (managed if needed), testicular volume reduction (from pituitary suppression), and skin reactions at the application site. Prostate health is monitored via PSA testing. Our provider monitors all relevant health markers throughout your program to keep you safe and in the therapeutic range.

Before starting TRT: total testosterone, free testosterone, estradiol, LH, FSH, SHBG, PSA, CBC (complete blood count), lipid panel, comprehensive metabolic panel, and thyroid function. During TRT: testosterone levels, estradiol, hematocrit/hemoglobin (to monitor for polycythemia), PSA, and lipids are retested at 6–12 weeks after starting and then at 6-month intervals. This ongoing monitoring ensures your safety and protocol efficacy throughout treatment.

Yes. Restore Wellness Clinic in Waco, Texas offers physician-supervised Testosterone Replacement Therapy for men with low T. We serve patients in Waco and throughout Central Texas. All appointments are booked through our secure Tebra patient portal submit your information on this page and our team will contact you within 24 hours.

Absolutely and the combination is often highly synergistic. Low testosterone contributes to fat accumulation and muscle loss, making weight loss harder. Optimizing testosterone alongside a medical weight loss program (Tirzepatide or Semaglutide) addresses the hormonal and metabolic causes of weight gain simultaneously. Many of our patients pursue both programs concurrently with excellent results. Your provider will coordinate a comprehensive plan tailored to your goals.

IV Hydration Therapy

8 Questions

What is IV Hydration Therapy and how does it work?

IV Hydration Therapy delivers a customized blend of fluids, vitamins, minerals, and nutrients directly into your bloodstream via a small IV catheter. By bypassing the digestive system entirely, it achieves 100% nutrient bioavailability delivering therapeutic concentrations directly to your cells. Effects are typically felt during or immediately following the session, unlike oral supplements which take hours to absorb at a fraction of the dose.

Most IV sessions take 30–60 minutes depending on the drip formula. Simpler formulas like hangover recovery or basic hydration typically take 30–45 minutes. More complex drips with multiple nutrients may take closer to 60 minutes. You relax comfortably during the entire session and can resume normal activities immediately afterward — no downtime required.

Yes. Restore Wellness Clinic in Waco, Texas offers physician-supervised IV hydration therapy with multiple drip formulas for energy, immunity, recovery, beauty, and general wellness. We serve patients in Waco and throughout Central Texas. Appointments are booked through our secure Tebra patient portal.

Because nutrients are delivered directly to the bloodstream, many patients begin feeling effects during their session — often within 15–20 minutes of the drip starting. Most notice improved energy, mental clarity, and overall wellbeing by the time their session is complete. Full effect typically peaks within 30–60 minutes after the session ends.

When performed under proper medical supervision with pharmaceutical-grade ingredients, IV therapy is a safe, well-established clinical procedure. At Restore Wellness Clinic, every session is conducted under physician oversight using medical-grade nutrients and sterile equipment. A brief health screen before each session ensures IV therapy is appropriate for you that day. Side effects are rare and typically limited to minor bruising at the IV site.

Frequency depends on your goals. For acute needs like hangover relief or illness recovery, a single session is typically sufficient. For ongoing wellness goals energy support, immune maintenance, beauty, or stress recovery many patients benefit from sessions every 2–4 weeks. Your provider will recommend an appropriate frequency based on your specific health goals and current status.

The right drip depends on your current state and wellness goals. Exhausted and depleted — Energy & Performance. Fighting a cold — Immune Defense with high-dose Vitamin C. Recovering from a night out Hangover Recovery. Comprehensive wellness reset Myers’ Cocktail. Skin and anti-aging goals  Beauty & Radiance with Glutathione. Your provider will help you select the most appropriate formula during your brief intake consultation before each session.

Absolutely. IV hydration therapy pairs naturally with all our other services. Patients on medical weight loss programs often use IV therapy to support energy and metabolic function. BHRT patients may use IV therapy for additional nutrient support. There is no conflict between IV therapy and our other treatment programs. Your provider will advise on any specific considerations for your individual health situation.
